Packaging

Since 2012, the Armani Group has been updating its packaging, focusing on increasingly sustainable, single-material solutions that are easy to recycle in order to reduce their environmental impact and make more efficient use of resources, with the aim of using 100% recycled materials.

The Group is committed to eliminating single-use plastic and replacing it with paper and boxes originating exclusively from certified, responsibly managed forests. Packaging is limited to the bare minimum and carefully designed in accordance with international standards — a continually evolving process that requires constant updating with a focus on the future.

Over the years, the Group has invested in the research and development of cutting-edge technology in order to create materials, some of which were never before available on the market. Today, all Giorgio Armani Operations facilities use recycled or biodegradable plastics.

Paper

Since 2012, the Giorgio Armani and Emporio Armani lines have abandoned plastic packaging in favour of paper certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). Since 2019, 50% of this paper has been composed of post-consumer waste and made in Italy to reduced environmental impact during transport

Packaging has been overhauled since 2017, with the Armani Exchange line currently using 100% recycled paper

Shopping bags

All brands are using 100% recyclable shopping bags with handles crafted from plaited paper yarn, which resembles cotton

Garment bags and ribbon

For the Giorgio Armani and Emporio Armani lines, these are crafted from yarn using recycled plastic fibres

Hangers

Since 2017, Emporio Armani hangers have been made from 100% ABS, a highly recyclable thermoplastic

Boxes

The recycled plastics used in the Emporio Armani Underwear packaging have increased from 40% in 2018 to 100% in Spring 2021. The boxes are 100% recyclable.

Since 2021, all seals have been removed from Emporio Armani clothing, and nylon string has been replaced with paper cord.

Cases

Since 2021, packaging for the Giorgio Armani and Emporio Armani lines include new eyewear cases consisting of completely recycled materials that reduce shipping volume by 55%
Watch cases use certified and recyclable paper

Since 2021, Armani Exchange has also updated its packaging with new cases for watches and eyewear, definitively discontinuing plastic in favour of cases in fabric or recycled paper
